Over 20 years ago when I started painting Mark Rothko's colourfield paintings was my inspiration. All aspects of the "fields" have an important effect. Their size, colour, texture, placement in space, how they float on the background, the background colour and how the fields blend into the background and each other. What looks like a simple painting is really quite complex. At the end of the day it is all about harmony...no different than a beautiful musical score...its just visual harmony. It has no meaning, it just makes you feel good. Please enjoy.
This 16"x20" oil on wood panel is highly textured under a tick coating of resin. The gold shimmers. Finished with painted black sides.
